Api (7,132 m) Himal is the highest mountain in the Far- West region of Nepal in Darchula district. The trek starts and ends at Makarighad of Darchula district. Although, permit to climb this is provided by Nepal Govt. but, now no one has climbed yet. The Api Himal trek is a less - frequented trekking route in western nepal that takes you to the base camp of Api Himal, also known as Api Saipil but sipal is another route .

The locals speak that at the base of Api Himal, a saint called Chamaliya went under meditation for a long duration of time and in meantime, he got thirst then the Lord gifted him a spring source at the spot of his meditation, this spring now becomes a Chaulani river; others speak that the river originates from the root parts surrounding trees called, Chauleu & got it's name as Chaulani nadi. While in hindu mythology, the river is originated from the dense hair of the Lord Shiva and got it's name as Charmawoti nadi and the place is indicated as Shivadham. On the Shukla Purnima of Shrawan month, Surma Bhawani is worshipped at Surma Sarover at this place and fair or jatra is organized for 7 to 8 days for a lot of devotees and visitors of Darchula, bajhang and the neighboring districts. It's believed that those who cannot go Mansarover for worshipping Lord Shiva can perform their rituals at surma sarover to get rid of their sins.

The main ethnicity includes from khas castes like Bohara, lothyal, khagare, etc, with their very old own languages & songs. These people speaks Chhetri language and perform jatras as their main customs. The interesting thing is that they weave clothes to wear by self till the recent century and, where these ethnic groups wear very antiques old ornaments over their face, neck, hands and legs.

We can get panoramic views of the mountains like Kap Chuli Peak(6680 m), Nampa(6611 m)-I,II & III, Bobaya Chuli (6808 m), Jethi- Bahurani(6850 m), etc from this Himal but, due to its remoteness, untouched, very few have only made its expedition. We will hospitably come in contact with the exotic people, the rapid flowing rivers, Holy lake- Kalidhunga, beautiful landscapes, rich biodiversity serene, wilderness, pristine forest, off the beaten paths, virgin nature, mysterious culture. This expedition serves a heavenly feeling with extreme geographical conditions and fluctuating elevation.

Day to day outline itinerary

Day 00: Option 2 Api Base camp treks

Day 01: Kathmandu to Dhangadi by flight 1hrs or Attariya by night bus ~ 750 Km /18hrs

Day 02: Attariya to Latinath by Night bus ~ 260 Km/13hrs

Day 03: Latinath to Makarigad by jeep ( Lunch) ~ 7 Km& trek to khandeshori ~ 6 Km

Day 04: Khandeshwori to Thumti (Lunch) to Lumcha ~ 12 Km / 7.5 hour

Day 05: Lumcha to Chhirchhire (Lunch) to Simar ~ 10 Km/5 hours

Day 06: Simar to Dhaule odar (Lunch) & sight seeing at Bhabaiya Valley ~ 9 Km one way +6 Km(two way )

Day 07: Dhule Odhar to Api Base Camp (Lunch) and kali Dhunga tal then back to Dhaule Odhar ~ 15 Km

Day 08: Dhaule Odhar to Simar to Chhirchhire (Lunch) to Khaykot ~ 18 Km

Day 09: Trek Khaykot to Sitti Village to Ghusha to Jhusku ~ 14 Km

Day 10: Trek Jhusku to Makarigad ~ 4 Km then drive to Latinath by Jeep ~ 7 Km

Day 11: Latinath to Attariya by night bus ~ 260 Km

Day 12: Attariya to Kathmandu by night bus ~ 750 Km / Dhangadi to ktm by flight

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Kathmandu to Dhangadi by flight 1hrs or Attariya by night bus ~ 750 Km /18hrs Kathmandu - Narayanghat - Kohalpur - Attariya(Near Dhangadi ) by night bus ~ 750 Km /18hrs
flight option is available from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi it take almost one hour .if we take flight around 2 o'clock from Kathmandu same day we can take bus to Latinath so that we can save time .The flight cost almost $2000 for one way so better to take bus it is quite cheep .

Day 02Attariya to Latinath by Night bus ~ 260 Km/13hrs Attariya to Saule 11 pm (Dinnner ) Gokuleshower ( 4am morning tea)-Latinath by night bus ~ 260 Km/13hrs

From Attariya to Latinath we can take night Jeep or night bus both are available .Jeep we need to book but night bus goes most of time 5 pm and arrived 6 am . while we are driving to Latinath we can have dinner at Saule Around 11 pm and stop to Gokuleshwer early morning around 4am for a tea break then bus goes Directly to Latinath and it arrived Most of time 6 to &am .

Day 03Latinath to Makarigad by jeep ( Lunch) ~ 7 Km& trek to khandeshori ~ 6 KmLatinath to Makarigad by jeep ( Lunch) ~ 7 Km then trek to Khandeshwori ~ 6 Km

When we arrived at Latinath we need to take local Jeep up to Makarigad it takes 1 hour normally, where we can have lunch and we can trek to Kandeshori via Makarikot)it is the pass ()before khandeshori . When we arrived to Makarikot We have two choices one is Khatti vallage Gita Madame(9865796594) home Stay and another choices is Naupata home stays also available one of them is Raimati Thakere,s Home Stay we could Recommended 9865773599 .

Day 04Khandeshwori to Thumti (Lunch) to Lumcha ~ 12 Km / 7.5 hour Chiiti vilaage/Naupata to Thumti -Lumcha
It is short distance far a lunch Place form Both places . it takes 2 hour for Chitti vallage/Naupata to Arrive Thumpti . When we arrived Thumpti better to have lunch Didi KumaThakere's Home Stay ( 9703673166 ) if we miss lunch here there is not other option untill we arrived untill lumcha . Thumti is really nice and old village with rich culture . After having Lunch we need to climb few hour towards kothedhar ()and travarse to Lumcha village via jungle . we usually Stayed Chair person of word Adksha (9868810761)most of time we arrived at Lumti around 3 pm starting from Thumti 11:30 am .Lumpti village has really few houses and nice home stay most of time we used to stay chair person house because house has nice bad room and worm and clean kitchen and . Most of the house are here made by Mud and white in cloured by white Mud

Day 05Lumcha to Chhirchhire (Lunch) to Simar ~ 10 Km/5 hours Lumcha to Chhirchhire (Lunch) to Simar ~ 10 Km
It dosen't take long time to go to kaykot so better to to have lunch at Chirchire 2500m and after short distance we can go to for over night to simar (9841975155/ Domal .Both places are situated at the Bank of Chameliya Rivar but in simar there is only one Tea house and with minimum Facility but nothing in Domol .

Day 06Simar to Dhaule odar (Lunch) & sight seeing at Bhabaiya Valley ~ 9 Km one way +6 Km(two way )Simar to Dhaule odar is really nice place to trek because beautiful wide valley and and Nice land scape with Mountain View. After having Lunch at Dhauleoder we can go for sight seeing at Bhabaiya Valley ~ 3 Km one way +6 Km(two way )
Among the trek I could say enjoy as much you can simar /Domol to Dhaulaodar with Nature. It is really nice way along to river , wide valley and mountain view of Jeti bhaurani and its Periphery. for a lunch we could arrive around 11 am at Dhuliodar and we can go for sight trip to Bhabaiya vally for a acclimatization .

Day 07Dhule Odhar to Api Base Camp (Lunch) and kali Dhunga tal then back to Dhaule Odhar ~ 15 KmDhule Odhar to Api Base Camp (Lunch) and kali Dhunga tal then back to Dhaule Odhar ~ 15 Km
Api himal Bc from Dhaulaodar is just ...km and we can go Chamaliya water source and back to Api BC for lunch and again we can go to Kalidhunga tal more East and back to Api Bc again and return back to Dhaule Odar . this trek is like y Junction .

Day 08Dhaule Odhar to Simar to Chhirchhire (Lunch) to Khaykot ~ 18 Km Dhaule Odhar to Simar to Chhirchhire (Lunch) to Khaykot ~ 18 Km
(Option 2: for better accommodation, you can lengthen 3 Km more for night stay in Sitti Village) it would be longer but worth to Stay at Sitti vallage.

Day 09 Trek Khaykot to Sitti Village to Ghusha to Jhusku ~ 14 Km Distance wise Khaykot is good place to Stay but there is no Faciality for the Moment but local government is empowering local to the Local to open here or just Above village Lwati home stay for future.
Khayot / Sitti vallge to Jhusku is really nice walk via Nali(9865574431) and Ghusa (9866103400) and downhill walk upto the River side and bit climb to Jhusku home saty Dhan shing dai and Didi mob

Day 10 Trek Jhusku to Makarigad ~ 4 Km then drive to Latinath by Jeep ~ 7 Km Trek Jhusku to Makarigad ~ 4 Km it takes maximum one and half hour then after having lunch here we drive to Latinath by Jeep it is only 7 Km from where we can got public bus to Attariy to Dhangadi .
Jhusku to Makari Gad there is short distance and after having lunch we can take Jeep From Makarigad to Latinath .

Day 11Latinath to Attariya by night bus ~ 260 KmLatinath to Attariya by night bus ~ 260 Km/ 13 hrs
Latinath to attariya is night bus same information Most of time the bus go 4pm so better to call in Advance . we can book Jeep Latinath to Attariy but the cous would be double and at least there need to be 6 people.

Day 12Attariya to Kathmandu by night bus ~ 750 Km / Dhangadi to ktm by flight Option 1 Attariya to Kathamandu by night bus
(Option 2: Attariya to Dhangadhi Airport~10 Km then flight to KTM~50 min) or you can break your trip by going Bardiya National park
